Describes how to share files with OceanBrowser using the DropBox application.
As a course presenter you may need to send us large powerpoint files, audio, video and image files. To facilitate this process we are going to use the DropBox application. Dropbox allows you to share folders between your own computers (e.g. your laptop, office, ipad, iphone) and other people (e.g.in this case, OceanBrowser support).
The first step is we need to complete is to download and install Dropbox.
A dialog will appear asking you to save the installer. Click (1) Save File.
When the download is completed it will appear in the Downloads window, or at the file location on your computer where you saved it (typically, the Downloads folder in your home directory, or the desktop). Double click the installer (1) to install DropBox.
The Dropbox installer will appear. Click OK any security warnings. Click Install (1)
After completing installation If you already have a DropBox account setup then select (2) otherwise leave on default (1). Click Next to proceed (3)
Fill in your details (1) to create your DropBox account, then click "Next" (2)
Leave this on the default free plan (2 Gb of storage). Click Next (1)
Leave this on Typical and click Install (1)
Installation will complete. A tutorial will give you a brief overview of Dropbox. When this is completed, your Dropbox folder will open in the Explorer. This can also be found in your home folder -> Dropbox (1,2)
Create a new folder and name it: <your full name>-ssi-share (3)
Right mouse button click on the new folder, a menu will appear. Select "DropBox" -> Share This Folder...
Your web browser will open, and a page will appear allowing you to share this folder. Enter the address you wish to share the folder with which is support@oceanbrowser.com (1) Enter a message for us to let us know what this share is for (e.g. "Shared folder from Rodney Tamblyn for updates to Anatomy 2011") (2)
Click Share folder (3) to begin sharing this folder.
Any files you add to this folder will be automatically shared with us without you needing to do anything else.
Whenever you wish to send us content please add it to the folder you have created.
If you are assisting with more than one week (module) of a course, or in more than one course please organise your files in folders so we know what is what.
