This tutorial explains how to log into the webphone, test your connection, and join a conference.
Go to http://oceanbrowser.com
Enter your username and password (1) and click "Login" (2)
The forum window will appear. Click the Web Phone link
The webphone will load. If any dialogs appear asking for permission to run an applet click "Allow".
The conference page will appear in a few moments. The window comprises the webphone (1), chat area (2) and help/logout buttons (3).
The webphone is simple and intuitive to use. To test your connection click the "Echo Test" button. This will make a call to the conference system. You will hear a voice explain the echo test, you may then speak and your voice will be echoed back. If your voice sounds clear and undestorted then everything is well.
- To call the conference system click the "Conference" button. To mute your microphone while you are in a conference call click the "Mute" button. It is a good idea to mute yourself when you are not speaking.
- For technical support click "Support".
- For assistance configuring and testing the phone connection click "Phone Help"
Here is a picture of the webphone while in a conference call, which we connected to by clicking the Conference button (1). I muted myself by clicking the Mute button (2) which changes colour to crange and reads "Unmute" while I am muted. To disconnect from the conference I would click the Hang Up button (3).
After you have selected the person you want to call they will be highlighted. Click the Call button to place the call.
The chat window is very simple to use. Enter the text you want to send at (1) and click the Send button (2). Your text and any responses or comments from other people will appear at (3).
