Installing OceanBrowser 2 on PC (XP, Vista, Windows 7)

Describes the steps required to install OceanBrowser 2 from a course DVD-ROM on Windows.

Insert the Course DVD into your PC. An AutoPlay window should appear. The precise appearance of this window will vary according to your operating system (the version on Windows Vista is illustrated). Click Run setup.exe to begin the installation process.

On some Windows computers autoplay may not function correctly - please see the lesson "Alternative instructions for installing on Windows" if you are having difficulties starting the installer, or if the auto start window does not appear on your computer.

The OB 2 Software Setup window will appear. Click (1) "OceanBrowser 2" to begin the installation process.

Note: If your course is supplied on 2 or more DVDs, install the most recent DVD-ROM first (check the publication date which will appear on the DVD label), then any remaining older DVD-ROMs selecting the Install Course Files only option in each case.

The OceanBrowser installer window appears - click through the install options (not all of which are shown here).

When you come to the Select Components window uncheck any courses you are NOT enrolled in (1) and click Next.

A confirmation dialog shows what will be installed - click Install to proceed.

The installation process will display progress. This may take 10-20 minutes to complete depending on the size of your course files.

A confirmation dialog will appear at the end of the process. Click Finish to exit and launch OceanBrowser.

You can access the OceanBrowser 2 application from the shortcut on your desktop.

Alternatively you can access OceanBrowser by clicking the Start button (1), All Programs (2) ...

... and selecting OceanBrowser 2 (1) from the listing of programs installed on your computer.
